Hadith (1) Imam Ali PBUH:

Avoid disgraceful speech, for it attracts the lowly toward you and repels the noble away from you.

📚 Tasnif Ghurar al-Hikam wa Durar al-Kalim, h4174, p214

Hadith (2) Imam Sadiq PBUH:

A believer has seven rights over another believer. Among them, the most obligatory is to speak the truth, even if it is against oneself or one’s parents, and must never deviate from the Truth for the sake of others.

📚 Mustadrak al-Wasa’il, Vol. 9, p45

Hadith (3) Imam Ali PBUH:

Praising someone more than he deserves is flattery, while, withholding rightful praise is either speechlessness or envy.

📚 Nahj al-Balagha (Subhi Salih), p535, Maxim 347

Hadith (4) Imam Baqir PBUH:

Regarding Allah’s verse, “Speak kindly to people” (Quran 2:83), he said: “Say to people the best of what you love to be said to you. For Allah despises the curser, the slanderer, the fault-finder toward believers, the obscene, the vulgar beggar—and loves the modest, the forbearing, the chaste, and the self-restrained.”

📚 Amali (Saduq), p254

Hadith (5) Imam Sadiq PBUH:

Speech is of three types: truth, falsehood, and reconciliation between people. When asked, “What is reconciliation?” he replied: “If you hear someone speak ill of another, go to the latter and say, ‘I heard so-and-so speak good of you,’ even if it contradicts what you heard.”

📚 Al-Kafi (Islamiyya), Vol. 2, p341, h16

Hadith (6) Imam Sadiq PBUH:

Speaking truth is better than staying silent over falsehood.

📚 Man La Yahduruh al-Faqih, Vol. 4, p396

Hadith (7) Prophet Jesus PBUH:

Take truth from the people of falsehood, but do not take falsehood from the people of truth. Be judges of speech.

📚 Mahasin, p230, h169

Hadith (10) Imam Ali PBUH:

I disciplined my soul and found no better discipline than God-consciousness. If it falls short, silence is better than lying or slandering others—for Allah forbade this in His Books. O soul! If your speech is silver, silence is gold.

📚 Diwan Amir al-Mu’minin, p69

Hadith (11) Prophet Muhammad PBUH:

Beware of laughing without astonishment, walking without purpose, or speaking without etiquette.

📚 I’lam al-Din, p273

📚 Tanbih al-Khawatir, Vol. 1, p106

A believer is silent to remain safe and speaks to gain benefit.

📚 Al-Kafi (Islamiyya), Vol. 2, p231

Hadith (14) Imam Ali PBUH:
